SHERYL CROW NEW FACE FOR MISSOURI TOURISM
March 28, 2006 – Posted at 5:49 p.m. CST
KENNETT, MO -- Tourism is the second largest and fastest growing industry in Missouri. In fact, last year just over 6300 jobs were created.
“If America is the melting pot of the world, then Missouri is the melting pot of America. We have everything from the mountains to the plains, to the flat lands, farm land. We have streams, we have metropolitan areas. We have major attractions that people recognize, we have music, you name it, there is a sample of it in Missouri,” said President of the Missouri Travel Council Gary Figgins.
One thing Missouri also stakes claim to rock star Sheryl Crow. The Kennett native is one of the newest faces of the VisitMo.com ad campaign.
“In the case of Sheryl Crow, it's ‘All I want to do is VisitMo.’ It has a little paragraph explaining Sheryl's connection to the state and it mention's Kennett prominently in that add as well,” said Figgins.
But no one in Southeast Missouri is really that surprised to see her face.
“She is proud of her hometown, she is proud of her heritage and growing up here and so that is what endures her to us as well as being a hometown girl. That she has not forgotten us and she remembers her roots,” said Jan McElwrath of the Kennett Chamber of Commerce.
“Every celebrity has a hometown. what's unique is the fact that Sheryl has always been so willing to give back to her community, to recognize her community, to recognize her roots and even on a larger stage, to recognize the state as her home state,” said Figgins.

Non so nulla, nada, nothing!

ZORBA THE GREEK IS BACK!

Man acquitted of stalking Crow now prays for her
BY TRACY CONNOR
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
A year after he was acquitted of stalking Sheryl Crow, Queens veteran Ambrose Kappos admits his thoughts are still with the rock singer. He wished her well during her breakup with cyclist Lance Armstrong and prayed when she announced she had breast cancer. But Kappos, 40, who is being treated for bipolar disorder, says he no longer communicates telepathically with Crow or harbors delusions she will marry him.
"One of the things I know is when a woman says no, she means no," he told the Daily News. "She knows what she wants - and she sure didn't want me."
Kappos (inset, below) was arrested in October 2003 after he was found lurking around Crow's limo and her dressing room at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Investigators learned he had visited her family in Tennessee and Missouri. Although Crow took the stand against him, Kappos was acquitted in November 2004 - unlike the drifter convicted last week of harassing broadcaster Monica Crowley. Living with his ailing parents in Astoria, the former Navy diver said he's not angry prosecutors tried to toss him in jail.
"The system exists for a reason, and from my perspective the system works," he said. "It's there to distinguish between the true criminals and those who because of their kooky ways might appear to be criminals."
"I'm glad a jury of my peers was able to see I was an honorable man trying to court a good woman, maybe in a kooky way."
Kappos said he hadn't followed the case of Ronald Martin, who sent Crowley hundreds of e-mails and accosted her on a subway platform. But he drew a distinction between his efforts to woo Crow and Martin's obsessive hounding. "There are truly valid stalkers out there who are true threats," he said. "I'm not one of them."

SHERYL CROW PITCHES MISSOURI TOURISM

Sunday, March 19, 2006
Have you been to VisitMO lately?
With the spring and summer tourism seasons quickly approaching, the Missouri Division of Tourism's 2006 advertising campaign is in full swing, and Kennett native Sheryl Crow is featured prominently in one of the state's print ads. The ad campaign features Missouri celebrities and focuses on driving consumer traffice to VisitMO.com.
The ad features a close-up head and shoulders shot of Crow, accompanied by text that reads, "All I wanna do is VisitMO." Even Kennett gets another shot at the national media, building on the exposure it received two years ago when Crow donated money to build a city aquatic center and, again, last year when the facility opened. Text at the bottom of the ad reads, "You can take the girl out of Missouri, but you can't take Missouri out of the girl. From her humble roots in Kennett to her incredible worldwide acclaim, Sheryl Crow has always sung our praises. When all you wanna do is have some fun, be sure to VisitMO. From concerts to clubs to festivals and more, you'll find it all at VisitMO.com or by calling 1.800.510.5200, ext. XXX."
This is not the first time Crow has participated in a Missouri Tourism campaign. Two years ago, one of her songs was included on a CD that was used as a fulfillment piece for the state's "Sounds of Missouri" promotion. The CD, which featured musical artists from Missouri or with Missouri connections, included the song "Home" from Crow's second album, titled "Sheryl Crow." Other musicians on that CD included Chuck Berry, Count Basie and Pat Metheny.
"Not only is Sheryl a phenomenal talent on the world music stage, she is a strong supporter of her hometown and her home state," said Missouri Division of Tourism Director John Robinson. "That's the kind of positive world message that helps Missouri. Her kind participation puts Missouri's best foot forward."
Even Kennett receives a certain amount of recognition in the ad as the text refers to her hometown roots.
The ads are part of the Missouri Division of Tourism's new advertising "umbrella" campaign. The campaign was created in response to advertising effectiveness studies and the increase in consumers researching travel options on the Web. The campaign has a singular message and a direct call-to-action--driving visitors to the Missouri Division of Tourism's website, "www.VisitMO.com. Playing on the double meaning of VisitMO--Visit Missouri and VisitMO.com--the spots are different than typical tourism advertising because they focus on a website, rather than focusing solely on the state's attractions.
In addition to Crow, the print campaign features crooner Andy Williams and pro golfer Hale Irwin.

LETTER TO THE FANS FROM SHERYL
It's still about firsts, it is also about all the open doors......"
Hey Everybody,
I cannot begin to tell you how much your cards, messages, letters, flowers, and prayers have meant to me these last few weeks. Needless to say, this has been a really challenging time for me and as I have always said, I have the greatest, most generous fans in the world.
I am doing really well. Strangely, I feel clear and optimistic...perhaps more than ever. I am on day 4 of my 33 radiation treatments and am feeling really good. As you know, my breast cancer was detected very early and I am completely blessed that it was removed and all I have to undergo in the way of treatment is radiation, strictly for preventative measures. I am told I will suffer fatigue starting about week 3 and some redness and some skin irritation in the final weeks. My great radiologist did tell me that my left breast would be firm and perky when I've completed the treatments and I asked if she could go ahead and radiate the other while she was at it. She said no.
I am also told that for the month after my treatment is complete, that I will probably my most tired. Believe you me, I will be taking it easy because I will be gearing up for our summer tour, which I am already looking forward to. It is my favorite time to tour and I feel certain, for me, it will be a celebration every night of how lucky I feel with this life I have been given.
My intent this year was to make this my year of firsts. In my usual fashion, I've been trying to drag everyone along with me. Chris Hudson tells a funny story about our agreement and how our first achievement was scuba diving for the first time ever. Being diagnosed with cancer was not on my shortlist of things to attempt during 2006 but here it is and it has really presented me with a whole new challenge and that is to stop everything that I'm used to doing and to really show up for myself. Luckily, I am surrounded with such strong, amazingly inspiring, and devoted family and friends. I feel like I'm floating through this on the backs of all those who care about me.
I keep saying how optimistic I feel. I will tell you that old saying of how when one doors opens, another closes....well, I would like to amend my intention for this year and say although it's still about firsts, it is also about all the open doors in front of me.
I can't wait to see you guys. Take care... and ladies, don't forget to get your mammograms!
love and peace...and good health!

SHERYL ON CARS SOUNDTRACK!

By Gina Keating
LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Movie theater owners gave an enthusiastic reception to Pixar Animation Studios Inc.'s film "Cars" at its first public screening at a Las Vegas trade show late on Tuesday. Expectations are high for the movie since Pixar, which has agreed to be bought by Walt Disney Co., has an unbroken series of hits and makes films at the pace of about one a year.
The G-rated movie, set for release on June 9, tells the story of up-and-coming race car Lightning McQueen, who learns to savor life in the slow lane after becoming trapped in a once-thriving Route 66 town that the freeway bypassed and the world forgot. "I thought it was a great movie," said Kevin MacLeod, executive vice president of Empire Co Ltd's Empire Theatres, a Nova Scotia-based chain with 380 screens. MacLeod said he believed the film would have the same broad appeal as Pixar's biggest hit "Finding Nemo."
Theater owners have a vested interest in the success of the movie, since their business is selling movie tickets, but Sanders Morris Harris financial analyst David Miller was in the audience and called it "outstanding."
"If there is any film you know is going to be a hit, it's this one," he said on Wednesday.
Another attendee, who asked not to be named, described the film's race-car-themed story line and folksy soundtrack, featuring songs by Sheryl Crow and Brad Paisley, as "the perfect antidote to (gay cowboy movie) 'Brokeback Mountain"' for more conservative red-state audiences. Mark Walukevich, vice president of international films for National Amusements, which operates 1,425 screens in the United States, Britain, Latin America and Russia, said "Cars" was "fantastic."
"On a scale of one to 10, it was an 11," he said. "The digital presentation was excellent, the sound track was great. I think internationally it will be a huge hit."
"Cars" is the first film since 1999's "Toy Story 2" to be directed by Pixar's creative director John Lasseter, who described the film on Tuesday as "very personal."
Lasseter said he was on a cross-country trip with his wife and sons when he got the idea for "Cars," which features the voices of Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Paul Newman, John Ratzenberger and racer Richard Petty.
"I had been working nonstop through the '90s ... and my wife Nancy said, 'Be careful, your boys may go off to college and you will have missed it,"' Lasseter said.
The theme of "Cars" mirrors what Lasseter said he learned on his family road trip: "The journey in life is the reward ... and it's that much more special when you have somebody to share it with." Lasseter said Pixar aimed to "over-deliver" on "Cars" by packaging the film for theaters with the studio's Oscar-nominated short film "One Man Band" and bonus material interleavened with the film's credits.
"Stay at the end of the credits," Lasseter told exhibitors on Tuesday before the show. "I pulled out the stops on the credits."

[REVIEWS] ALWAYS ON YOUR SIDE, ft STING
BILLBOARD: It seems like any time Sheryl Crow or Sting gurgle they win a Grammy Award. Over time, their efforts have become less and less exceptional, making the grandiose praise ring false. But this pairing is noteworthy because the tune is actually a beautiful, inspired love song, unexpectedly fulfilling and convincingly shared. It is a pleasure to see that these two names can still showcase moments of purity.
DETROIT FREE PRESS : After several weeks of focus on Sheryl Crow's personal life -- the Lance Armstrong split, her breast-cancer battle -- she's getting the sort of attention she probably prefers: This harmony-rich ballad with Sting, a rerecording of a solo cut from last year's "Wildflower" album, is steaming up the pop and adult charts, earning heavy radio play and big downloads thanks to a can't-miss tearjerker melody. Grammy nominations await.
RE-SCHEDULED TOUR
Work is being finalised on a re-scheduled tour that will start early June. Expect an announcement this week.

SHERYL CROW STRONG ENOUGH TO ROCK FENWAY WITH DMB
Now, it’s all supposed to be on the DL, but our backstage spies report that sidelined songbird Sheryl Crow will join the Dave Matthews Band when the boys rock Fenway Park in July. Crow, as you know, pulled the plug on her North American concert tour last month when she announced she had undergone breast cancer surgery. At the time, Crow said she “hoped to reschedule the dates as soon as possible.”
But now, it appears the recovering Crow believes A Change May Do (Her) Good, and it’s time to think about getting back on the road. Of course, her motive is only speculation on our part since Crow’s publicist refused to return our calls and e-mails yesterday. But What Would You Say???
Anyway, the Dave and Sheryl show at the ol’ ball yard is on the books for July 7 and 8 when the Sox are on the road and headed into the All-Star break, according to the 2006 schedule.

HLS&R GOES PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS BANNED SIGNED FOR SHERYL CROW

HOUSTON -- In addition to a lot of cowboys, cowgirls and animals, visitors to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo will see a lot of pink Thursday. It's all for breast cancer awareness.
Sheryl Crow was the scheduled entertainer for Thursday's rodeo, but had to cancel last week when she underwent surgery for breast cancer. Another breast cancer survivor, singer Melissa Etheridge, agreed to perform in her friend's place.
The rodeo has dedicated the day to breast cancer awareness.
"Whether you're a Sheryl Crow fan or Melissa Etheridge fan, or you're just concerned about the welfare of women all over the world, come out and support this day and have a great time," said Leroy Shafer, CEO of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
A large "Houston Loves Sheryl Crow" banner is being signed at Reliant Center. Visitors can donate €4.16 ($5) to sign it and proceeds go toward the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
"We're so excited to be helping the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo promote breast cancer awareness. With both Sheryl and Melissa, they caught their breast cancer early. When cancer is caught and contained in the breast, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. That's just awesome. They both have an excellent prognosis," said Alison Evers, a breast cancer survivor.
Other items are also being sold to raise money for breast cancer research.
The banner will be delivered to Crow.
[AMARCORD] LASERDISC-MANIACO IN E-MAIL *_____*

Domanda 2 - Esiste l'MTV Unplugged, sempre in Laserdisc?

[NEWSPAPER] SHERYL CROW BEGINS RADIATION THERAPY AT NASHVILLE HOSPITAL
Steve Hankins
A mammagram, early detection and an agressive physician probably serves to minimize Sheryl Crow's bout with breast cancer, the musician's mother, Bernice Crow, told The Daily Dunklin Democrat Wednesday.
Still, the Grammy Award-winning pop star who calls Kennett her hometown begins a round of radiation therapy today at a Nashville hospital, Bernice Crow said. "She's been diagnosed with what doctors call a minimally-invasive cancer," Crow explained. "It's just been caught in the very earliest stage.
"Under the circumstances, everything came back good," Bernice Crow continued. "But she's going to go through with seven weeks of radiation."
Sheryl Crow underwent surgery to remove the cancer at a Los Angeles hospital, her mother said. Bernice and other family members traveled to the West Coast to be by her daughter's side during the surgery, and will travel to Nashville for the radiation therapy, she said. "At this point they consider her cancer free," Bernice said. "I don't know whether the radition is precautionary, treatment, or both.
"She found out about it a week ago this past Monday," Bernice added. "We went out there on Tuesday and she had the surgery on the following Wednesday. "She was really fortunate because she had a doctor who was so agressive with it and wasn't willing to wait and see how things progressed," Bernice continued. "Everyone, I mean everybody we've heard from, has been touched by cancer. There is a history of cancer in our family. There's not been any breast cancers. But others, yes. We don't know anybody who hasn't somehow been touched by breast cancer."
Despite her health-related challenge, and the fact that Crow has postponed her national tour in support of her latest recording, "Wildflower," her mother said Sheryl is in great spirits, and will use the down time to reflect and write more music. "She had absolutely no symptoms at all," Bernice said. "She went in for a mammagram and the doctors caught the cancer at its earliest stage. "It surely hasn't slowed her down any," Bernice continued. "As soon as she completes her radiation, she intends to get right back out there. Radiation is not as damaging as it used to be. She'll find something constuctive to do with her time. She's made that way."
A message from Sheryl to her thousands of fans was posted on her Internet web site, www.sherylcrow.com. "Approximately 1 in 7 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime," she wrote. "More than 2 million American are living with breast cancer today.
"I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year," the musician continued. "We are a testament to the importance of early detection and new treatments. I encourage all women everywhere to advocate for themselves and for their future -- see your doctor and be proactive about your health. More than 10 million Americans are living with cancer, and they demonstrate the ever-increasing possibility of living beyond cancer. I am inspired by the brave women who have faced this battle before me and grateful for the support of family and friends."

Crow optimistic about cancer fight
By Tim Maloney, European Editor
February has not been the greatest month for Sheryl Crow. Nominated for another Grammy for her recent album Wildflower, which she dedicated to Lance Armstrong, Crow and fiance Armstrong announced they would go their separate ways on February 4 rather than marry as planned in April. Then on Wednesday, February 22, Crow's website announced that the 43 year-old singer/songwriter had a successful operation for breast cancer, caught in its early stages.
Sheryl Crow recently spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport's Pier Bergonzi about her fight with cancer and her future plans. "Now I'm doing better and I've decided to be optimistic", Crow told Bergonzi from her Los Angeles home. "It's going to be tough, but I'm ready," explained a determined Crow of her fight to beat breast cancer. "I was getting ready for my North American tour when I felt something wasn't right...my doctors found the problem and we decided that they would operate. Did you know that by the end of the year, there will be two hundred thousand women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer?"
Like fellow songbirds Anastacia and Kylie Minogue, Crow had contracted the number one cancer killer for women, but told Bergonzi she expects to beat the beast. "The doctors have gotten everything and I'm sure they did a good job. So I've decided to be positive about my future. And I've still got a lot of projects..."
Crow has cancelled upcoming concerts in March and April and will now have to undergo two months of preventative radiation therapy. "The doctors told me that the radiation is something I have to do. But I still hope to be in Italy in June for my concert on Firenze. And maybe even go to the Giro d'Italia. I still like cycling very much."
Crow also spoke to Bergonzi of her relationship with Armstrong, saying "I know he is concerned about me...my mom is here with me." Talking of her break-up with Armstrong, Crow explained, "Lance recently retired after an extraordinary career where he was completely at the top. So he still needs to figure out his new life."

CROW: "TERAPIA E POI LIVE IN ITALIA!"
Nel 1999 è uscito "Sheryl Crow & friends live from Central Park", registrato a New York con ospiti come Eric Clapton e Keith Richards.
